Sam Taylor-Johnson’s Passion Cycle series was inspired by shunga or spring pictures, Japanese woodcuts by 19th-century masters who not only portrayed kabuki actors, geishas, sumo wrestlers, and scenes from everyday life but also frankly depicted sexuality. The series consists of twenty-five precious little light boxes with extremely explicit shots of a couple making love in various positions. This beautifully produced, cloth bound book was published as a catalogue to accompany a Taylor- Johnson exhibition at the BAWAG Foundation, Austria. It contains an essay by Hripisme Visser.

Texts are in German and English.
